How to make Matar Pulao – Rice with Peas Recipe

INGREDIENTS

3 cups of basmati rice(soaked in water for at least 3 hours)

1 medium size onion

1 cup peas

2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste

2 chopped green chilies

3 tbsp vegetable oil

5 ½ cup of water

Spices for peas

Red chili powder ½ tsp

Red chili flakes ½ tsp

Grounded black pepper ½ tsp

Coriander powder ½ tsp

Salt ½ tsp

Garam masala ¼ tsp

Cumin seeds ½ tsp

Spices for rice

1/2 tsp of salt for each cup of rice,it means for this recipe 1 1/2 tsp of salt

Garam masala ½ tsp

PROCEDURE

Take a big pot having airtight lid and a spoon. Fill the pot with vegetable oil. Heat the oil on high flame of the stove. Add onions in it and cook them for 4 to 5 minutes or until they become golden in colour. Add ginger-garlic paste along with green chilies,keep stirring and cook them until they are fully cooked. After that add peas and all the spices for peas. Mix them well.cook peas for 2 to 3 minutes.and keep stirring.

Now add all the water in the pan and add spices for rice. wait until it comes to a light boil. when a water starts boiling, start adding rice. After that mix them with gentle hand and cover it for 2 minutes. Keep on checking the rice so that nothing can stick to the bottom. When almost no water left behind, turn the heat to low, as low as possible. a very light flame is required for this purpose. Now cover the pan with airtight lid for about half an hour. After 30 minutes remove the lid and serve.
