Delicious Dahi Baray Recipe for Ramadan

Dahi baray (Gram flour fritters in yogurt) are very famous due to their soft texture and delicious taste. It can easily be made at home and especially for Ramadan Dahi baray is very good option for iftar. You can add chick peas with some chopped boiled potatoes. Also you can add any other vegetables according to your taste.

Ingredients

¾ cup of besan or gram flour
½ to ¾ cup of water
¼ tsp of salt
¼ tsp of cumin seeds
¼ tsp of baking powder
Vegetable oil for frying
Tap water for dipping
1/2 cup of yogurt
¼ tsp of salt

Procedure

Take a big bowl, add gram flour,salt,cumin seeds and baking powder. Mix them well. Now slowly add some water in this mixture. You will need about ½ cup to ¾ cup of water. Batter should be of pour-able consistency. Neither very thin nor very thick. Put this mixture aside for few minutes and now they are ready to fry. Take vegetable oil in a frying pan. On high heat,preheat the oil. when oil gets heat up,pour some batter in the frying pan with the help spoon. Try to make a round shape so they can make a round ball shape after they are fried. They will come on the surface of the oil once they are cooked properly.Once It is cooked properly, take them out. They should look golden in color. Put these fritters in a bowl having tap water. After 2 to 3 minutes take them out and with light hand press them and squeeze out most of the water.Do the same thing with another batch.spread these fritters on the plate.
Now, take yogurt in a bowl, add salt in it. whisk it well. If your yogurt is very thick,you can add water accordingly.Pour this yogurt mixture on the fritters. Serve the Fritters (Dahi Baray) topped with fresh leaves of mint and a drizzle of red chili or black pepper according to your taste and enjoy.
