Things you keep in mind while choosing a Dog

things-you-keep-in-mind-while-choosing-a-dogIf you would like to find yourself a new friend, it’s probably a good idea to get a dog. Before choosing a dog, you need to think carefully about which breed would be best for you. There are various aspects of this problem to be taken into consideration. Obviously, you wouldn’t want your new pupil to feel any discomfort because of lack of research on your part. If you want to ensure your dog a happy life, let me share some advice about choosing a Dog:

1) How big is your house?

Many people choose to have a big dog even though they don’t have enough living space. Even if you take a puppy, you can’t forget that it won’t take long for it to grow up. Taking him out for walks won’t provide your dog with enough physical activity. If you are living in a flat and dream about owning a dog, you should choose a small one like Pekingese or Tibetan Spaniel. If you really like your dogs big, you could think about a Mastiff, which has relatively low requirements.

2) What do you need the dog for?

While some of us simply get a dog to have someone that would keep our company, those amazing pets can be extremely helpful in many departments. For example, if you need a guide dog for a blind person, what you need is a Gold Retriever, Labrador or German Shepherd (although some others can also be trained accordingly). The same breeds are often used by the police. But if you simply want a cute dog that will make your kid happy, you may go for a Beagle or a Bull Dog.

3) How much time do you have to take care of your dog?

Of course, if you are an extremely busy person, it’s doubtful if you should even get yourself a dog. However, there are breeds that require lots of attention and some special care but there are also plenty low-maintenance dogs which can be perfect for the hard-working owners. Those include: Japanese Chin, Puggle and Welsch Corgi.

4) How much are you willing to spend?

If you want to get a dog from an accredited breeder, you have to remember that it may be quite expensive. Puppies of rare breeds can cost thousands of dollars. In other words, if you are tight on your budget, you shouldn’t look for Rottweilers or Chow Chows.
